What is Image Hotlinking
Hotlinking an image means that you display it on your page by direct linking to its location on another website. Although it may be faster than uploading the image to your own hosting account, it should be avoided for the following reasons:
Slower Page Loads
Because your visitor's browser will have to spend extra time fetching the image or file from another website, it takes longer for the page to finish loading than if you had it uploaded to your own server.
Hotlinking images uses bandwidth of the site that you're fetching the image from. This means that you're stealing their bandwidth to display this image on your website. Unless they specifically say it's ok...NEVER hot link to an image without asking first.
If they delete the image off of their hosting account or rename it to something else, the image will appear broken on your website.
